By journauto, on February 23, 2010, at 7:22 pm “When I picture a Mercedes-Benz in my head, the original SLR gullwing, iconic G-wagon and classic SEL saloons usually dominate the space between.
Now, the B200 Turbo is no SLS AMG; and, for the price of a SLR McLaren, you could have at least a dozen fully-loaded versions in which to scoot around your compound.

“Now in its third generation, the 2011 Audi A8 takes on the ultra-competitive full-size luxury sedan market sporting a complete redesign with more power, better efficiency, improved technologies like the Multi Media Interface (MMI), and new ones like mobile broadband internet access and location-based Google nanny services (currently available only in Europe).”

By journauto, on February 18, 2010, at 7:23 pm “The 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander has more in common with the automaker’s current super-performing Lancer Evolution and Ralliart than it does the original that went on sale in Japan nearly a decade ago.
A facelift, more power and the availability of Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) with an active front differential (AFD) are the biggest changes to [...]
By journauto, on November 3, 2009, at 8:36 pm The first round of voting is over and there are winners and losers. Here’s a video of me thrashing around the Ste. Catharines Niagara District Airport runway test track in the one of the winners:
They’re not all this crazy and “TestFest” is not all fun and games!

Last week I was in freezing c-c-c-c-o-old Quebec to test drive the new 2010 VW Golf family. And, after driving up north to Ste. Jovite in a three-door 2.5-litre gas powered model and the new 2-litre turbo clean diesel wagon with DSG auto and tush warming, it was time for some fun and fast laps [...]

And, unfortunately, I had to return it earlier today
I’ll always remember my week with Bumblebee. Seems everywhere we went–and we’re talking almost 1,000 kilometres, including a scoot from Toronto to Detroit and back–people gawked, stared, pointed, made comments and asked all kinds of questions.
To be expected I guess, driving around in [...]
By journauto, on August 3, 2009, at 1:41 pm Recently, I had the opportunity to test drive the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 on the “funtastic” Driver Development Track at Mosport International Raceway not far from my home in Southern Ontario. The morning that day was wet, very, very wet but the car hung in there like a champ for a few lapping sessions and road test [...]
By journauto, on July 8, 2009, at 12:52 pm I’ve reviewed countless different makes and models of car and truck over the last decade but, somehow this is my first attempt on video.
Shot on a whim by Claude Gariety for Autonet.ca while on assignment to get up close and personal with a dozen or so Toyota/Lexus vehicles in Kingston, Ontario. Although I haven’t [...]

“…Beneath the car’s killer looks is a fully modern rear-drive chassis developed Down Under. It’s the same one used on the Aussie-built Holden Commodore, with modifications to make it longer and stiffer. Not only is the smaller powerplant smooth and powerful, the overall ride and handling of the vehicle exceeded the [...]

This is me testing the 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 GT on the skidpad at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Driver Development Track (Mosport DDT). The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate car control. As you can see, the all-new 2013 Genesis is quite happy to get sideways and into a drift. With 348 hp and 295 lb-ft on tap, the V6 is powerful and torquey enough to take the long way around the pad too. Stay tuned for an update on this and a forthcoming track shakedown of the 2013 Gen Coupe.
Vital specs:
3.8-litre GDI V6 with 348 hp and 295 lb-ft
6-speed manual
1,616 kg curb weight
Torsen LSD
Bridgestone RE050A UHP summer tires (P225/40R19 front and P245/40R19 rear)
Brembo 13.4/13.0" (340/330 mm) vented discs, four-piston calipers (f/r)
Footage shot in HD with my Drift HD cam. Enjoy!
